Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
A LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) is an application submitted by an employer to Service Canada for pre-approval to hire a foreign worker.
The LMIA application can be for a temporary work permit, or to assist with a permanent residence application, or both.
In some cases, LMIAs are needed to extend the work permit of an existing employee or to help a foreign worker in Canada change jobs to a new employer.
LMIAs are highly technical and detailed applications. They have detailed and complex advertising requirements and special sections depending on whether the position is a high-wage or low-wage position.
Cornerston Immigration has extensive experience assisting employers with LMIA applications and the requirements for hiring and employing foreign workers.
